Only “a few years ago,” a man named Fisto was “downright evil.” With his mighty iron hand, he felled trees to block the rivers and captured any who defied him with the help of a scrying glass and an enchanted spider. Villagers recoiled as his gravely voice, mad and dripping with reverb, echoed through the countryside, taunting them for their helplessness.
But that was a few years ago, OK? Now He-Man calls Fisto a pal, and King Randor granted the guy a full pardon, so you can go ahead and set Fisto atop Stridor, because this is 80s cartoon rules, and he’s a good guy now.
After saving a helpless boy from a bear attack, FIsto tells us how he resolved to change his wicked ways. And it’s quite a tale. In addition to the river-blocking scheme and the spider hi-jinks, we’ll also hear about an imprisoned elf lord, tree powers and a previous arrangement with Skeletor. There are clipped pieces of dialogue, multiple caves, and lots of swinging on ropes, but we followed the plot for the most part.
To help us appreciate Fisto’s character growth, we’ll recount personal stories of misunderstanding and injustice, and Scott gives us some free nightmares as he recounts the worst emergency dentist trip you’ll ever hear.
This one was nuts, but it made for a great episode. Really enjoyed these lightning round episodes as well. An octopus lady, Duncan’s hair, and historical figures!
